QA Field Test Assistant - Seasonal Help


Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to assist in developing and maintaining product quality through an organized effort of product evaluation and continuous improvement processes. The Quality Assurance Field Test Assistant is tasked with testing products and parts according to engineering specifications and performance standards. They will need to be able to follow both verbal and written instructions provided by their manager. They are additionally responsible for reporting and logging of tested items along with observations, experiences and product non-conformances. The bulk of this job is performed outside at the field test site. A fair amount of physical ability, agility, and mechanical aptitude is required. This position is exposed to common mechanical hazards and associated risks for machinery and equipment.

Core duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Perform field testing of lawn & garden (L&G) small engine products.
  • Perform field repairs and service on L&G small engine products.
  • Assist with assessment of returned products for failure modes.
  • Provide assistance to engineers with physics of failure testing of new L&G products.
  • Provide quality improvement suggestions/observations to Design Engineers.
  • Aid in the design and set up of testing equipment for product analysis.
  • Document testing by recording failure modes and effects on QA forms.
  • Adheres to all applicable policies and procedures for health, safety, and compliance.
  • Perform other duties as required.


  • Personal safety - Hazard awareness and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Willingness to learn and perform service and repair of a variety of small engines and mechanical applications.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize workloads.
  • Ability to accurately record observations.
  • Basic computer skills, email, word, excel, etc.
  • Able to read engineering drawings including weldments and wiring diagrams a plus.
  • Experience with use and care of inspection equipment a plus.

Compensation: Non-Exempt position

Duration of Employment: Seasonal

Work Days: Monday - Friday

Hours / Day: 8

Work Shift: First Shift
