Reports to: Advanced Development Engineer

Machines parts, builds tools, jigs and fixtures for custom products, engineering, research and development and manufacturing. Schedules and prioritizes all work requests to the department. Orders all materials and tools necessary to complete jobs in a timely manner.
∙ Maintain a safe and clean work environment
∙ Assists in training other personnel in proper and safe use of machine tools
∙ Performs complex set-ups, machines complex parts, cutting tools
and components of jigs, fixtures, dies and molds to engineering drawings or
sketches using mills, lathes, drill press, and other equipment.
∙ Constructs inspection gauges, fixtures, punch press dies and form tools, using precision layout and assembly techniques.
∙ Originates and designs the construction of simple to moderate complex fixtures, punch press dies, injection molds, inspection gauges, and cutting tools as requested, using available software packages such as SolidWorks and SolidCam.
∙ Modifies, repairs, sharpens, and polishes existing jigs, fixtures, injection molds, punch press dies, and cutters using precision machining techniques.
∙ Heat treats tool material by hardening, tempering, quenching and annealing according to the materials specifications and standard operating procedures. Grinds and machines metal to size after heat treatment.
∙ Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
∙ May set-up production machines with required tooling or fixtures
and determines tooling for production set-ups and fabricates parts required in
∙ Recommends solutions to production problems and improvements in processes, tooling, or inspection methods. Assists production supervisors in solutions.
∙ Assists engineers in design of new injection molds, punch press dies, production prototypes and new components, testing equipment and production fixtures for manufacturing and assembly.
∙ Programs and operates all Tool room CNC equipment.
∙ Performs all other duties as assigned or directed.
Qualifications and Skills:
∙ Minimum of seven years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
∙ Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
∙ Computer skills to include: CNC programming, word processing, 3D engineering software (SolidWorks and SolidCam preferred)
Education: Advanced Technical School Training and/or equivalent experience

Duration of Employment: Full Time
∙ Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently
∙ Write by hand, use a keyboard and use hand tools
∙ Ability to communicate by speech, email, and hearing continuously. Communication is by phone, email, and person
∙ Visual acuity needed for close detailed work, computer use and work with tools and measuring devices
∙ General manufacturing environment - work area may be subject to undesirable temperatures in winter and summer.
∙ May require working with hazardous substances such as, but not limited to cutting oils.
Work Days: Monday – Friday
Hours / Day: 8
Work Shift: First Shift.
