New Product Development Engineer

Job Summary: Ardisam Inc. is seeking a product development engineer to design and develop lawn & garden products. Engineers are responsible for their products through the entire life cycle of a product, all the way from initial concept to full production. The products that would be developed in this position would fall under the three main categories of the brands; Earthquake, Yardbird & Castle. This position will also have a focus on quality assurance for all products within the brands. The most successful engineers have the ability to manage their own product development projects. Effective engineers are detailed oriented and have a thorough understanding of different manufacturing processes. The ability to communicate effectively both internally and with overseas vendors is critical for success in this role. The ability and willingness to travel internationally is required. .
Manage New Product Development projects per agreed upon timelines.
Create 3D models and 2D drawings using Solid Works software.
Effectively communicate project status updates to management.
Assist in developing and building supply chains, mainly in Asia, for product sourcing.
Travel to Asian suppliers 2-3 times per year to develop new products, build relationships, support production and meet shipping schedules.
Effectively communicate both verbally and written with Asian suppliers.
Construct prototypes and confirm designs with related team members.
Oversee or perform various performance and life cycle tests and data documentation including detailed test reports.
Help to develop and document quality expectations with related team members.
Ensure components and assemblies adhere to applicable industry standards.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload from multiple projects.
Qualifications and Skills: 5-10 years of experience
A strong mechanical aptitude is a must, and hands on experience with manufacturing and/or maintenance is strongly preferred.
Successful candidates must be proficient with 3-D modeling software and the creation of engineering drawings.
Knowledge in part design and fabrication (machining, welding, injection molding, etc.)
New product development and project management experience is preferred.
A knowledge of standard quality assurance practices is preferred.
An understanding of and experience using ice fishing equipment is a plus
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering field. Those with a 2 year technical degree and 5+ years of product development experience will also be considered.
